This Pro CO Alarm analyzer, built in 2011, combines carbon monoxide detection and an external high-temperature sensor. Components are mounted in a water- and impact-resistant case that is compatible with outdoor and marine environments.
Hidden on a shelf for over a decade, these legacy Pro CO carbon monoxide detectors with high temperature alarms were quite the find. We found two of them. Both are unused but were built in 2011. The unit is powered by two (2) standard 9-volt batteries. The high temperature sensor goes into alarm by sounding a buzzer and illuminates an indicator light. When the CO set point is reached, the Pro CO sounds a beeping tone and illuminates a red LED. Both alarm functions (gas and temperature) work as designed. A new unit retails for $1,280.00. This version of the Pro CO Alarm analyzer detects:
(1) CO (carbon monoxide) in air flow from an operating compressor in excess of user-defined setpoints
(2) Compressor air outlet temperatures in excess of 350°F/177°C
If the analyzer readings fall outside of alarm setpoints, a relay sounds a piezo alarm and illuminates one of two panel LEDs (one each for CO and temperature). This same relay can activate an external relay to automatically shutdown compressors, sound an external alarm or activate emergency backup systems. The system includes an external temperature sensor with 10-feet of cabling.
WARNING: Never expose gas sensors to pressure or you may cause damage and/or false readings. Damaged sensors will not provide accurate gas analysis. Most gas analyzers can be used to analyze a regulated gas sample flow, the contents of a gas cylinder, or the flow from a regulator. The flow rate of gas must equal 1-5 L/min. To produce this flow, a Flow Restrictor and Regulator may be required. A faulty Flow Restrictor can lead to a false analyzer reading. Flow Restrictors should be regularly tested with a Flow Meter. Inaccurate gas analysis can lead to serious personal injury or death.
